Division 6 Relay Carnival Wednesday 7/10/13 @ Ravensworth Farms

Ravensworth  is at 5202 Inverchapel Rd, Springfield, VA 22151 – just across the beltway on Braddock.  This event is the midpoint of the NVSL season.  This year marks the 50th Anniversary of this meet in the NVSL.

Our relay teams compete against the relay teams of the other 5 teams within our division. It is a very exciting, fun and fast meet. Towards the end of the meet, while we wait for the results, there will be a 100 Free Parent Relay and a Coach 200 Medley Relay. If you are interested in being in the relay, Please let me know asap.

Divisional Relays is a qualification event for our NVSL All-Star Relay Carnival at Lincolnia Park on Wednesday of next week.  The fastest 18 relays league-wide qualify for All-Star Relay Carnival per event.  One alternate relay per event is also listed in the program and shall be available to swim.  A Division Relay Champion trophy will be awarded in each division to the team with the highest score.  And at the All-Star Relay Carnival, the League awards trophies to the six highest scoring teams.  A travelling trophy is awarded to the top team.The events are all relays.

  • We need a parent to take 1-2 tents for team area… tents are in shed at our pool, can pick up in time for caravan, please email me and let me know if you are willing to help out.
  • We encourage all Gators even if not swimming to come out and cheer our relay teams!!

  • The swimmer selections are based on times through the most recent B meet and absences.  Swimmers not selected are welcome to attend the meet and cheer on the relay teams. Alternate swimmers may be identified tomorrow and encourged to attend in case of an opening for a swimmer at the meet.
  • Our Team Area is Team Area #6.  After entering the pool, it is to the right.  The area can accomodate 2 canopies.  Swimmers should bring their own chairs.
  • Our first relay, the girls mixed age relay, will be in Lane 2.  Each relay following simply rotates to the next highest number and then cycles back.  
  • It is a short meet; we would like all swimmers to remain in the team area until the end of the meet for team spirit and emergency substitutions.

Timeline:

  • The meet begins at 6:30 pm sharp, and barring weather delays, should be approximately 1 1/2 hours in length.
  • Forest Hollow’s warmup is at 5:10 pm, in lanes 4, 5, 6.

Caravan/Parking/Swimmer Drop Off:

  • We will gather at Forest Hollow at 4:20 pm; with a departure at 4:30 pm to caravan to Ravensworth.  If your swimmer is not caravaning, please let me know.
  • There will be a swimmer drop off in front of the pool.
  • The neighbors are friendly and there is plenty of street parking.  It is always good, however, to carpool!

Weather Contingencies:

  •  If bad weather interrupts the meet, we all clear the deck and go to our cars.  No one should leave the area until they hear from me.  Every effort is made to complete this event on Wednesday night. More complete weather notes are attached.

This is one of those meets we are only required to bring a few.  Everyone else can sit back and enjoy the meet.  The team area is small so we ask parents to find spectator seating if you are not working the meet.
