50 Years of Forest Hollow: Part 3

Then and Now: 7321 Little River Turnpike

Burger Chef (founded in 1954) was a fast-food restaurant chain which featured the Big Shef and Super Shef hamburgers. At its peak in 1973 the chain had 1,050 locations and rivaling McDonald’s®. Annandale’s own Burger Chef location has, for the last 30 years, been leased-occupied by another famous eatery—Jerry’s Subs and Pizza. As of April 30, 2014 the property was assumed by TitleMax, the car title lender.

In honor of our golden anniversary we are dedicating the next year to sharing memories of our neighborhood, our city, and the 1960s.

More to come…
